Mission Statement of Temple Beth El, Augusta Maine

 

Temple Beth El embraces a spirit of community, lifelong Jewish learning, commitment to inclusiveness, and active participation in Jewish life. Our congregation offers members opportunities  to engage in prayer, study, and Jewish ethical practice.

 

Our community serves as a center of Jewish life in Central Maine and as an extended caring family.

 

We offer educational opportunities that enable our members to make informed decisions based upon Torah, tradition, and progressive Jewish thought. We encourage commitment to social action.

 

Our congregation invites involvement in all aspects of Temple life and encourages participation in congregational leadership. We continually challenge ourselves to communicate with and meet the needs of our members.

 

We strongly support the ability of the Jewish people to survive and flourish in the land of Israel and throughout the world.

 

Temple Beth El is committed to sustaining itself through responsible fiscal policies, continual efforts to build and retain membership, and sound management processes.
